5 MIND-BOGGLING FACTS ABOUT SPACE YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT

Space is astonishing. It has trillions upon trillions of objects in many billions of galaxies in the universe. It is almost incomprehensible to the human brain.
You probably have heard before space is silent because there's no medium in space. Sound can only travel by mediums so that it could be heard. You also have heard that there may be life on Mars or there may be a planet made of diamonds and one day on Venus is like a year on Earth etc.
Following are some fascinating facts about space that you have never heard about:

5. Formation of Aurora

Earth is the third planet from the sun and is 151.85 million km far away. But we can say that Earth lives inside the sun and by inside it doesn't mean we are inhabited by it. The thing is, the atmosphere of the sun stretches far beyond its visible surface, we can't see it. Our planet lies in its atmosphere. Solar winds blow on Earth. The rush of these solar winds forms the spectacular phenomena known as Northern and Southern lights also called Aurora. It is seen in high-latitude regions.

4. Pluto-Dwarf Planet

Pluto used to be the ninth planet of our solar system but in 2006 it was stripped from this title and later called a dwarf planet. An amazing fact about Pluto is that its diameter is smaller than the diameter of the United States which is about 2,800 miles but the diameter of Pluto is just 1,473 miles across.
-Volcanoes: Pluto has different kinds of volcanoes than we have on our planet. Well, we have volcanoes spitting lava but the volcanoes on Pluto spit ice. It happens when frozen water expands and high pressure is built in it, and one day the ice explodes, forming a new ice volcano.
-Atmosphere: The atmosphere of Pluto is much higher than the dwarf planets. The atmosphere of Pluto has 20 layers and all of them are super cold and condensed.

3. Hottest Planet in Our Solar System

Venus is the hottest planet in our solar system. It is about 30 million miles far away from the sun. Since Mercury is the closest planet to the sun many people assume that it is also the hottest planet in our Solar system but it's not true. Venus comes after Mercury but its temperature is 875 degrees F, which can easily melt lead but if we see the temperature of Mercury, it maximum reaches 800 degrees F.
Another reason why Venus is the hottest is that it has an incredibly thick atmosphere which is 100 times denser than the Earth. Its atmosphere consists of only one gas known as carbon dioxide.

2. Most Extensive Volcano in our Solar System

The most enormous volcano in our Solar system is present on Mars known as Olympus Mons. It is so huge in diameter that its size is compared to the size of Arizona (the state of the US). Its height is almost equal to Mount Everest, which is the highest mountain on our planet. The last eruption that occurred in Olympus Mons was 25 million years ago.

1. The Great Red Spot on Jupiter

The Great Red Spot is a high-pressure region in the atmosphere of Jupiter.
When Jupiter was discovered in 1610, astronomers were confused about the enormous red spot it has on its surface. Recently, astronomers found that this red spot is actually a storm (the largest storm in the Solar system) that had been there for centuries. But scientists noticed that the red spot also called the Great Red Spot started shrinking about 20 years ago. Nowadays it is half the size it used to be.

10 MIND-BLOWING FACTS ABOUT VOLCANOES

Volcanoes are mountains that become bigger with time as they erupt. They are opening to the earth's surface. When pressure built up in magma, an eruption occurs. Volcanoes are very dangerous, the danger area around the volcano is nearly 50 miles. Around 500 million people live near volcanoes. Its eruption can send ash 30 km high in the air. Volcanic gases include CO2, SO2, HCL, H2S, and HF, which are very dangerous gases. The following are some interesting facts about volcanoes.   10- 80% Origin of Earth's Surface Is Volcanic The volcanic eruption has formed mountains, islands, sea floors, and many earth structures. The emission of gases from volcanoes forms the Earth's atmosphere.  9- Active Volcanoes There are almost 1,500 active volcanoes worldwide. Most of them are present in Ring Fire. Active volcanoes are mainly found in Hawaii, Washington, Alaska, and California. Most of the eruption occurs in Alaska and Hawaii.  8- Lava Fragments Hot liquid beneath the e...

10 INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT GEYSER

Geysers are underground reservoirs of water that immediately eject water and stream. Geysers form due to hydrogeological conditions that exist only in a few areas of Earth. The word geyser is derived from Icelandic Geysir, literal meanings of the geyser are gusher or gush out. The following are some interesting facts about geysers. 1- Active Geysers   There are over 1000 geysers present worldwide. But most of them are present in Yellow stone national park. Almost 1200 geysers have erupted in the USA out of which 465 are active in the following years.  2- Steam Driven; The hot Geyser   When water deep beneath the Earth comes in contact with heat due to magma, the pressure is generated as a result of hot water, and steam is ejected forcefully in the air at different heights ranging from a meter to hundred meters. Steam-driven has two types: Fountain and Cone.  A fountain geyser mostly erupts beneath water pools and lasts for a few seconds. However, a cone geyser may k...

7 INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT GLACIERS

The word glacier came from the French word glace which means ice. It is divided into two main types; Alpine and Continental Glaciers. A glacier is formed when snow accumulates to transform into ice. It continues to form layers and become ice sheets. Pakistan is the country which has more glaciers than anywhere on our planet. It has almost 7000 glaciers. 7- Speed of Movement of Glaciers   Glaciers might seem like still solid blocks but they move slowly. Its motion can be fast or slow. The average speed of glaciers is almost 30 meters per day. 6- There are No Glaciers in Australia   Glaciers are present in every continent except Australia. It is the only country without glaciers. The main reason is that Australia has very small mountains. The highest peak in Australia is only 2,228 meters. 5- The Last Ice Age The recent ice age occurred about 2.5   million years ago. It lasted about 11,700 years. At that time glaciers covered a great area of our planet. There have been 5...
