7 INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT GLACIERS

The word glacier came from the French word glace which means ice. It is divided into two main types; Alpine and Continental Glaciers. A glacier is formed when snow accumulates to transform into ice. It continues to form layers and become ice sheets. Pakistan is the country which has more glaciers than anywhere on our planet. It has almost 7000 glaciers.

7- Speed of Movement of Glaciers

Glaciers might seem like still solid blocks but they move slowly. Its motion can be fast or slow. The average speed of glaciers is almost 30 meters per day.

6- There are No Glaciers in Australia

Glaciers are present in every continent except Australia. It is the only country without glaciers. The main reason is that Australia has very small mountains. The highest peak in Australia is only 2,228 meters.

5- The Last Ice Age

The recent ice age occurred about 2.5 million years ago. It lasted about 11,700 years. At that time glaciers covered a great area of our planet. There have been 5 major ice ages that have happened until the formation of Earth.

4- Source Of Fresh Water

Glaciers are the largest reservoir of freshwater on Earth. It almost provides 75% of freshwater to our planet. It is also the second-largest reservoir of water. Almost 10 % of the land area of our planet is covered with glaciers.

3- Some Glaciers Can't Absorb Blue Light

Most glaciers appeared to be blue. The reason behind this is that the red and yellow light is absorbed by glaciers but on the other hand blue light scatters or is reflected back. The more it reflects it will seem blue.

2- The Fastest Glacial Surge

In 1953, a glacier in Pakistan broke all records when it advanced more than 7.4 miles in three months. On average, it is 112 meters per day. The name of Glacier is Kutiah Glacier and it is present in Gilgit-Baltistan.

1- The Worlds Largest Glacier

The world's largest glacier is Lambert Glacier and it is present in East Antarctica. It is 50 miles wide and about 250 miles long. It is almost 2,500 meters deep. It alone drains 8% of the Antarctica ice sheet.

10 MIND-BLOWING FACTS ABOUT VOLCANOES

Volcanoes are mountains that become bigger with time as they erupt. They are opening to the earth's surface. When pressure built up in magma, an eruption occurs. Volcanoes are very dangerous, the danger area around the volcano is nearly 50 miles. Around 500 million people live near volcanoes. Its eruption can send ash 30 km high in the air. Volcanic gases include CO2, SO2, HCL, H2S, and HF, which are very dangerous gases. The following are some interesting facts about volcanoes.   10- 80% Origin of Earth's Surface Is Volcanic The volcanic eruption has formed mountains, islands, sea floors, and many earth structures. The emission of gases from volcanoes forms the Earth's atmosphere.  9- Active Volcanoes There are almost 1,500 active volcanoes worldwide. Most of them are present in Ring Fire. Active volcanoes are mainly found in Hawaii, Washington, Alaska, and California. Most of the eruption occurs in Alaska and Hawaii.  8- Lava Fragments Hot liquid beneath the earth's s

10 INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT GEYSER

Geysers are underground reservoirs of water that immediately eject water and stream. Geysers form due to hydrogeological conditions that exist only in a few areas of Earth. The word geyser is derived from Icelandic Geysir, literal meanings of the geyser are gusher or gush out. The following are some interesting facts about geysers. 1- Active Geysers   There are over 1000 geysers present worldwide. But most of them are present in Yellow stone national park. Almost 1200 geysers have erupted in the USA out of which 465 are active in the following years.  2- Steam Driven; The hot Geyser   When water deep beneath the Earth comes in contact with heat due to magma, the pressure is generated as a result of hot water, and steam is ejected forcefully in the air at different heights ranging from a meter to hundred meters. Steam-driven has two types: Fountain and Cone.  A fountain geyser mostly erupts beneath water pools and lasts for a few seconds. However, a cone geyser may keep on erupting con

TOP 10 POISONOUS AND VENOMOUS ANIMALS IN THE WORLD

In our ecosystem, there are many animals present. Some of them are really astonishing and beneficial but some of them are very harmful and a great threat to life, as they produce toxins. The following are the most poisonous animals in the world.    10. The Stone Fish    Stonefish is one of the most venomous species of fish. It is mostly found in the region of Indo-pacific. Its poison can cause death in an hour. It has dorsal fin spines. Its poison spreads as if someone steps on it because in this way a poison is forced into the foot.   9. The Brazilian Wandering Spider   These spiders are one of the most poisonous species of spiders. They were recorded as the most poisonous animal in the world in 2007.  These spiders are also called armed or banana spiders. These spiders are nocturnal. They don't live in trees,  they are found on the ground. They can cause respiratory disorders and muscle cramping.    8. The Poisonous Dart Frog     This frog is found in South America. It is one of
